Plenty of old favourites as well

While crowd-pleasing favourites Kids Aren't Square and KidsBuskers return to this year's TV2 KidsFest, there are also many new events for kids to try their hand at, such as running a caf or creating monster smoke rings.

Kids Aren't Square is the popular finale to TV2 KidsFest. It sees a non-stop concert performed by the Christchurch Wizard School of Public Performance. It is an all-singing, all-dancing show that will get the crowd swaying along in no time.

Are you a gun guitarist, a violin virtuoso or a rapper like Scribe?

KidsBuskers is a chance for kids to showcase their talents to the public of Christchurch. For the two weeks of KidsFest, the Council issues special Kids Busker Licences for you to perform anywhere in Victoria Square, Cathedral Square or City Mall.

If performing doesn't interest, no matter, there is always Kids' Caf to have a go at. Kids will be given an introduction into the hospitality industry. They will learn about preparation, presentation and marketing before the doors open for an hour for customers.

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble, is an item on the calendar being hosted by the University of Canterbury. Kids will be able to pretend that they are Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings when they produce monster smoke rings. They will also be able to see fluid beds, hold bubble races, play with gooey substances and boiling sand, and much more.

  • By no means are these the only events on the calendar this year, so grab a TV2 KidsFest brochure and check out the more than 190 events on offer.
