E rere nei ōku mihi ki kā tini aituā o te motu kua wehe atu ki tua o te tatau pounamu, moe mai, okioki mai. 
I send my greetings to those who have passed on to the spiritual world, farewell.

Ka huri nei ki a tātou te huka ora.  He mihi kau atu ki te hapū o te Ngāi Tūahūriri o Kāi Tahu - ki a koutou te mana whenua, kai te mihi.
I turn now to us, the living.  I acknowledge the hapū of Ngāi Tūahūriri of Kāi Tahu who are from this area - greetings to you.

Ki kā tāua, pōua mā, kā hākui, hākoro mā kua tae mai nei i tēnei rā - nau mai, tauti mai.
To the elders and others who have assembled here today - welcome.

Nō reira, tēnā tātou katoa.
