Redesigning Resources Conference

Thursday 12 August 2004

I've now had the pleasure of welcoming delegates to the Redesigning Resources conferences of 2000, 2002 and now 2004. I assume that this means they are either bi-annual, or that Mr Prain holds them on the sly each alternating year. Which would be a great shame.

For the intellectual magpies amongst us, these events are absolutely prime for picking up a few new shining and glittering useful concepts. The economic and social value of these events would be foolish to underestimate. They have brought some stunning thinkers and doers amongst us from the international talent pool.

Redesigning Resource's innovative work has been crucial to helping us develop new, practical examples of sustainable business and organisational leadership. It is therefore a nice logical continuation of this theme that this year the conference itself is about Leadership.

Leadership is a quality that in a time of massive technological, social and economic changes we need to take the time to think about how it too should change. I have been warned that with Manfred De Vries in charge of this process, he will again be pushing many of us well past our comfort zones on the way.

Don't take it personally. I understand that we are about to become just the latest notch on a well notched belt of global excursions into helping people stretch toward meeting their potential.

Along with the core Redesigning Resources companies, John Drummond and Lester Levy, and the 3rd National Art Awards, you have a great event to look forward to.

I look forward to sharing the challenge with you.
