Re-opening of Bell, Lamb & Trotter
Thursday 30 October 2003
It's not often that I get to open a new or renovated business
and publicly express my deepest desire that many, many years pass
until I have to use the services of the firm I'm doing the official
ceremonies for. Today is such a day.
Nice as it may all be, I hope it is many years until I have to
visit again as a non speaking customer. Having qualified my enthusiasm
suitably I am now pleased to officially re-open Bell, Lamb and
Trotter Funeral Directors Ltd.
I am also under instruction to do that which comes not naturally
to a politician...to keep this very, very short.
I'm told these premises were originally opened by the chairman
of the Christchurch Council of Churches, the Reverend Coutes in
1983.
I guess in terms of eternity, 20 years between upgrades and openings
is but the blink of an eye.
Having noted this I will now hopefully follow orders and to quote "press
the new remote which will open the committal curtains for the
very first time."
