Hagley- Ferrymead Community Board has confirmed its objectives for the coming year (July 2000 — June 2001).

"This will ensure that the board is focused for the next 12 months," says its Chairman, Bob Todd.

The board’s objectives and performance measures (along with other information relating to the Hagley and Ferrymead communities) will be included in the Hagley- Ferrymead Community Plan that will be published next month (July).

The board’s mission is to assist local communities to achieve.

This assistance will be by effective local governance, delivery of high quality service, active community consultation and a proactive stance on environmental issues.

One of the initiatives for the coming year is to hold consultative forums to enable the board to communicate with the community on community issues. The first of these forums will be held in August. "This coming year the board has increased funding to assist with the achievement of its objectives."

"The funding, which the board is appreciative of, will have a beneficial impact for communities in both the Hagley and Ferrymead Wards" says Bob Todd.

The extra funding will enable the board to assist groups with community development and will be used for special community work.

Bob also welcomed the appointment of Jude Pani as Community Advocate for Hagley and Ferrymead.
