Medbury Pupils Take Jellie Park in Hand

Medbury PupilsAfter surveying other local schools, pupils at Medbury School identified Jellie Park as a resource in their local community with great potential for improvement.

Suggesting that Christchurch’s leisure facilities are generally centralised, they proposed a detailed set of enhancements following consultation with a wide variety of community members including fellow students, parents and senior citizens. The Medbury plan for Jellie Park includes a graffiti wall, a chess set similar to the one in Cathedral Square, a maze, mini arenas, a bike skills course and a community centre for senior citizens.

The Medbury School ‘big idea’ was presented to the Fendalton-Waimairi Community Board which has recommended that the various Council units involved with the school to develop it further.
