The changing face of QEII - Stage 2

A new, international-standard pool is now open at Queen Elizabeth II Park. A new training pool will also be developed.
A specially-designed, international-standard 51-metre pool at Queen Elizabeth II Park is now open.

Along with the opening of this new resource is the temporary closure, for redevelopment, of the existing 50m pool, dive well, learners’ pool, changing facilities and hydroslide.

The 50m pool will undergo a major transformation to convert it into a leisure pool with a wave machine, lazy river, two vortexes, swirl pool, bubble seat, geyser and raindrop unit. The leisure pool is due to to open in April next year.

A new training pool will also be developed to cater for the learn-to-swim programmes.

The dive well will undergo a facelift, bringing it up to international standards. It will be open, along with the new changing facilities, in July this year.

The existing children’s pool and hydroslide are not part the new development, however the new leisure pool will be one of the largest in New Zealand and the Council is considering construction of a new hydroslide.
