Public Streets Enclosures
If yours is one of the many Christchurch businesses providing an outdoor area for eating or drinking on a public street or pavement, the City Council wants to know what you think of the Public Street Enclosures policy which regulates their use.
Under the policy, businesses need a licence to use Council land to provide space for their customers. A wide range of businesses, including bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, currently take advantage of the policy to provide outdoor areas. The Council charges rental for the space occupied, on the basis that businesses are generating an income from use of that space.
The Council wants to know how well you think the current policy and fee structure is working, and what changes, if any, you would like to see.
- For more information or to make a submission, pick up an information pack from any Council Service Centre or from the Civic Offices at 163 Tuam Street or look on the web at www.ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay/ Submissions close on Friday, 8 July.
