Parkhouse Road refuse station to close 13-14 June for upgrade

Parkhouse Road refuse station will be closed on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 June. This is the final refuse station closure in preparation for this month’s opening of the Kate Valley landfill.

During earlier closures machines were installed at all stations allowing rubbish to be compacted into containers which are then put on trucks to be transported to the new landfill. This is a new method of transpor ting rubbish and will reduce the number of truck journeys required.

A weighbridge will be installed in front of the new compacting machinery at Parkhouse Road during the 13-14 June closure. This work was completed at Metro and Styx Mill refuse stations in May.
