There were lots of fun activities, live entertainment and more than 20 stalls at the gala, which was organised by local people in conjunction with Christchurch City Council Leisure.

"It was a pleasure to work alongside such a committed group of people, with a strong sense of community and fun. They should be enormously proud of their efforts - the day was huge!" says community recreation advisor Erin Eyles.

The Council funded the event and local businesses and groups donated time and services.
