Lucky surpirse for 1000th visitor to energy show home When Garry Brown, of Spreydon, visited the Councils energy-efficiency show home he got more than he expected. He was the 1000th visitor at the Papanui house since it opened in February, and to mark the occasion he received a book, Christchurch: A City For All Seasons, and a couple of energy- efficient light bulbs. Garry was pleased with his presentation and found the charts, displays and retrofit ideas in the house very useful. He also welcomed the independent advice from energy advisor Geoff Illston. Most of the visitors have been Christchurch and Canterbury people but some came from other parts of the South Island. Council energy manager Dr Leonid Itskovich says if people get one idea from the show home, it can make so much difference to their lives. The house is at 10 Leander Street and is open 11am to 6pm every day except Wednesdays. |
