Kylie is aiming for respect

Kylie Katene is the newly appointed youth liaison worker based at Northlands Shopping Centre, employed jointly by the City Council, the shopping centre and Papanui High School’s Te Kaupapa Whakaora (a complementary education service).

Kylie’s “mission” is to create an environment where there is mutual respect between youths, the centre and the community at large.

She envisages an environment that is supportive for young people; allows self- expression and encourages appropriate social behaviour.
