Fendalton staff on the move

Many changes are afoot at Fendalton Service Centre as the time draws closer to the centre’s demolition.

If no appeals are received under the resource consent process, 16 members of the Fendalton area development team will be relocated to Civic Offices, Tuam Street, from 27 September.

It is planned to demolish the service centre (formerly the Waimairi County Council offices) but before that happens three temporary offices will be erected in the adjacent Waiwetu Park to house staff members left using the centre.

Once staff are in the temporary offices, the old building will be demolished and a new single-storey, $2.4 million, 2000 sq m combined centre will be built on the site of the old centre.

The new centre, which should be ready in May-June next year, will also house a new library and community police.

Matters handled by the Fendalton area development team, such as building and resource consents and all matters relating to them, can still be received at Fendalton from 27 September but they will be processed at Civic Offices.

Phone People wishing to contact Fendalton area development team members at Civic Offices should ring 379 1660. The Linwood and Sockburn service centres are also available for walk-in customers.
