Art wins national Aussie award

Sam Genet, Heina Petzold and Eva Busch worked their skills on many blocks of Oamaru stone at the Royal Adelaide Agricultural and Horticultural Show late last year. Nearly 130,000 visitors saw the stone symposium.

The visit arose from a trade and cultural mission from Christchurch to Adelaide to the mark the 25th anniversary of the sister city relationship. The concept won a trophy in this year’s Australian Sister City Association national awards at the Sister City Association conference.

The Adelaide-Christchurch Sister City Committee sent it here and Mayor Garry Moore presented it to Vincent Chew, chairman of the Christchurch-Adelaide committee. Garry said the symposium captured the imagination and also the spirit of the committee.

Vincent Chew said it was fitting that the Christchurch art today featured in public places in Adelaide.
