The whole reason for being on Council is to represent you well.
I’ve loved the opportunity to do this and thank you for your support. It’s been full on but there’s still heaps to do. It’s this challenge and hard work that drives me.
I’m very approachable and not easily discouraged. I work hard, have a good sense of humour and enjoy turning your concerns into positive actions.

My priorities for Christchurch for the next three years are:
- Keeping rates down.
- Pure drinking water.
- Future city growth.
- Reducing air/ water pollution.
- Recycling.
- Transport issues.
- Council spending
Locally I’ve worked with residents on many issues such as:

I live in this area
Faimeh BURKE (Christchurch 2021)
I have a B.A. degree in Economics and an M.A in Politics, with experience as a marketing manager, journalist and political researcher. I was the programme maker and presenter of the radio and TV programmes "The Voice of Migrants". Currently I’m a company director, translator, and member of the Steering Committee of the Inter-cultural Assembly of Christchurch. I‘ll work for common sense, balanced and reasonable policies to enhance Fendalton-Waimairi while maintaining its unique character. Being a mother of three children, I understand the need for a safer city by day and night. Another priority is quality infrastructure - roads, cycleways and footpaths. I’ll also support enhancing our green areas, beautifying streets, more frequent street cleaning, education for a cleaner city, better traffic management, the undergrounding of power lines, channel renewal and strong action against vandalism and graffiti. I will seek the best value for your rates.

Michael COUCH (Christchurch 2021)
I am a Canterbury University graduate with a BA (Hons) and B.Ed, a current executive member of the University of Canterbury Students’ Association and a local resident. I want to stand for the City Council because I believe that education is crucial to our future and that the City Council has a vital role in giving young people a good start. In particular, I support after-school activities and holiday programmes and the continued development of our libraries, where young people can develop study skills. Libraries are also important for life-long education opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. I am proud of our city and I want to see it continue its development, retain its assets and preserve its environment. New ideas are needed to meet new challenges, and, as a young person, I will bring the views of young people to the decision-making table. michael.couch@xtra.co.nz

Mark KUNNEN (Positive, Responsible, Accountable)
I have worked hard for six years on local issues as a Community Board member and serving Justice of the Peace.
I’m managing a rental car business employing five people, I know the contribution people make to our community, the value of a dollar and the need to find new ways to save on rates rather than add to them.
As board member of our local Automobile Association, I’m passionate about safety, improved traffic planning, no unnecessary road works, reducing congestion, making school zones safe.
I believe in refocusing on the basics: street cleaning, under grounding services, providing parks, libraries and swimming pools.
I’ll focus on strong local representation while maintaining a city-wide vision and I won’t be afraid to tackle the real issues.
I’ll work for issue management, not meddling.
Any questions call me 366 9609.
YOURS is the only consent needed, please give me your vote.

Mike supports initiatives that better the environment and retention of trees and our heritage. He aims to enhance the Garden City image.
Mike is a trustee for the North West Mentoring Trust, Past Chairman of the Life Education Canterbury Westland Trust, member of Orana Wildlife Trust, member of the North West Citizens Advice Bureau, and a member of two Maori Educational trusts.
Mike is married and has one daughter. He is a Police Youth Aid Officer.
Gina WILLIAMSON (Independent)
Married and resident of the ward for 30 years. A Registered Nurse, Garden Consultant and Chairperson of the Merivale Precinct Society I am committed to caring for residents whilst building rapport between Community and Council. I want a Council that is easily accessible and accountable to its ratepayers, diligent and sympathetic to residents' concerns and honourable in its administration of City affairs. I want a control on rates rises with much greater decision making at Community Board level to ensure an even distribution of the rate take. The Ward, currently is seriously disadvantaged with lack of undergrounding of overhead services being a glaring example. Where is the new rowing facility? The daily care of the City needs to be first class, meaning safe, clean upgraded streets, good traffic management, well maintained and properly designed open green space, uncluttered river views, urgent and strict protection of trees and heritage.
