Have your say on Proposed Amalgamation Christchurch - Banks Peninsula

Polls of electors in Christchurch City and Banks Peninsula in March will determine whether the two areas will amalgamate.
Voting papers will be delivered by post between Friday 3 March and Wednesday 8 March.

Polling by postal vote closes at 12 noon, Saturday 18 March, and preliminary results will be available at 7pm.

  • 3 to 8 March 2000 — Voting papers delivered to electors in Christchurch City and Banks Peninsula.
  • Noon Saturday 18 March — Polling by postal vote closes.
  • 7pm Saturday 18 March — Preliminary results available.
  • October 2001 — If amalgamation proceeds, a new Council replacing the current two Councils will be elected.
