Street banners mark Seaweek

Four colourful new street banners will be installed on light standards around the city this month to coincide with Seaweek (6-13 March).

A range of events is planned locally to mark the week, including displays at the Council's New Brighton and Linwood libraries, with an hour of fun Seaweek activities for children aged 3-12 years at New Brighton Library on Saturday, 5 March, from 2-3pm (bookings essential, ph 941 7923).

Also on during the week are Museum exhibitions, guided wetland walks, lectures, a family fun day at Ashley River mouth on Saturday, 12 March (bookings, 353 9737), and the annual Farewell to the Godwits at South New Brighton spit (meet end of Rockinghorse Rd, 8.30am, 13 March).

Christchurch City Council's Learning Through Action programme for schools includes field trips for schools to the Estuary or Brooklands Lagoon.
