Older adults have all the fun
The Phillipstown Leisure Club for Older Adults, whose members were photographed at a recent barbeque lunch, is one of five small, friendly Community Board-supported groups that meet regularly around the city.
Come along and enjoy a social outing with afternoon tea and lots of chatter.
The Leisure Club for Older Adults is a fun programme featuring games, ten-pin bowling, exercise techniques, indoor bowls, guest speakers, mystery tours, outings and some art and crafts.
The programmes run each week and are a great way to meet new people and try interesting activities. As well as at Phillipstown (Tuesdays, 1-3pm) there are clubs based at the community centres at Ascot (Thursdays, 1.15-3pm), Hei Hei (Thursdays, 1-3pm), Shirley (Wednesdays, 1-3pm) and Fendalton (Wednesdays, 1-3pm). The weekly fee of $3 includes afternoon tea but there may be small extra costs for some outings.
New members are welcome and help may be available with transport to the centres. For more information, call the Council on 941 6840.
