Library opening hours extended

Christchurch City Libraries has extended its opening hours, with many libraries now open from 9am on weekdays and staying open later.

Central Library is now open an extra eight hours every week - opening an hour earlier on weekdays, from 9am-9pm, and at weekends from 10am-4pm. Visits to the Central Library are also made easier by taking advantage of the free hour's parking at the Farmers car park (entrance behind the library on Oxford Terrace).

Between them, the 13 Christchurch City Libraries are open for an extra 36.5 hours a week, providing easy access to a library on Sundays no matter where you live in the city.

Central, Shirley, South Christchurch and New Brighton libraries are now open on Sundays from 10am-4pm. Plans to open Fendalton library on Sundays to provide a service for residents in the west of the city are subject to a current resource consent application.
