Arts market guide launched
Christchurch City Council has contributed $15,000 to a new local arts market guide produced by the Christchurch Community Arts Council and now widely available around the city.
Marlene Le Cren, the City Council's Arts Advisor, says the vast majority of people working in the artistic sector are essentially small businesses and surveys consistently show that one of their most pressing problems is a lack of marketing resources and expertise.
"We're proud to assist in the launch of this guide and, thereby, help hundreds of practitioners and service providers address a major barrier to sustainable growth," she says.
The Guide is arranged by discipline, with detailed information about the opportunities to take part that each individual or organisation provides. People can use it to select tutors, venues and public programmes to suit their needs, while those listing in it will benefit by being more accessible.
