High Street jazzed up for festival

More than 20 jazz bands, including Volare, Nativa, and Ritmo Latino will be performing throughout Saturday, 9 April at Jazz Alley - a new Montana Christchurch International Jazz Festival event on High Street.

Running from 11am-6pm, this City Council supported event is a great opportunity to experience jazz and fashion with the family, in a street party atmosphere that encompasses the best of central-city life. Entry is free.

With High Street closed to traffic between Lichfield and Tuam, and Poplar Street closed between Ash and Lichfield, three stage areas will be created. Local fashion retailers will present their creations on the main stage between acts, and most shops and cafes in the area will be open.

While in the area you'll see some of the Council's revitalisation projects, including the beautifully repainted facades on High Street's heritage buildings, a new piazza and planter boxes in Poplar Street, as well as a wide range of enhancement work being done by building owners in the area.

The Council car park on Tuam Street will be open until 6.30pm.
