Bowls tourny a success
The Council's City Housing service recently held a lawn bowls tournament for tenants, at the Woolston Park Bowling Club.
About 60 tenants took part, from regular bowlers to those trying the sport for the first time. Teams each played three games and the winning skipper was well-known Canterbury bowler Bernie Johns, who lives at Maurice Carter Courts.
The generous sponsorship provided by George Devenish and his team from City Care Facilities Maintenance helped make the day a great success. There is a lot of support for it to be run every year
