Dreaming the Thoughts of Others, by St Margaret's College student Melissa Gray (17), above, has won the inaugural Christchurch Sister Cities Young Artists Competition, organised by the Council and International Christchurch Youth (ICY).
The work will be sent to Washington DC, later this month to compete in the Sister Cities International Young Artists Competition 2005.
It is thought that this will be the first time there has been a New Zealand entry in the competition.
Other prizewinners in the Christchurch competition included second place-getter Marcus Patman (13), of Lincoln High School, and third place-getter Siobhan O'Brien (14), of Avonside Girls' High School.
These artworks and other entries in the competition will be exhibited at Creation Arts Space, 105 Worcester St, until Friday 15 April.
