Consultation was sought at more than 30 public meetings and in questionnaires.

Submissions to the discussion document, Focus on the Heart, totalled more than 900.

This followed a questionnaire in “Christchurch City Scene” that brought 560 submissions and provided the basis for the discussion document.

The Christchurch Youth Council also issued a questionnaire that produced another 330 submissions.

Feedback emphasised the importance of the development of the eastern part of the central city.

Other key issues included transport and getting around, improving living opportunities, Cathedral Square, more greenery in streets.
