Why I Love Christchurch

Manuela and Joerg Willner, new residents and sausage makers It is a lifetime dream to live in New Zealand, to get away from stress and traffic in Germany, and when we visited Christchurch as tourists before, we fell in love.

First of all Christchurch has this great location perfectly situated on the South Island, close to the beaches and not too far from the mountains either. It’s big but not crowded.

That’s what we want. Especially the friendliness of the people touches our hearts. Christchurch is a very clean and green city — we would even say it’s the greenest of all.

It has wonderful architecture, for example the museum or Arts Centre, which was the great location for the trial of the fresh produce market in March and April, and still offers several produce stalls on the weekends. For us personally it’s a great opportunity to introduce German bratwurst to New Zealand through this new market.
