World of netball

Christchurch residents have the opportunity to see the best netballers in the world in action next month during the World Netball Championships at the WestpacTrust Centre.

The championships will be the biggest ever with 28 nations competing and more than 4000 spectators expected from overseas. One hundred and 34 games will be played from 21 September to 2 October in what promises to be exciting netball. New Zealand is seeded number 3 after the titleholders Australia (No. 1) and South Africa (No. 2).

Initial rounds will be held on the 21st however the opening ceremony and game between New Zealand and Canada will be on the 22nd.

Ticket packages are available through Stars Tours in Christchurch (and Auckland) and Ticketek. Individual tickets to the initial rounds and the opening ceremony and New ZealandCanada game are available through Ticketek.

Noh, the classical stage art of Japan.

 

Noh, the classical stage art of Japan, will be performed in a once-only concert on Monday 23 August, 8pm in the Great Hall at the Arts Centre. Fifteen well-known Japanese performers of Noh are coming to Christchurch for the Festival of Japan to give this free performance.
