Double-decker bus latest tourist attraction

An English-style double-decker bus is the latest tourist attraction in the city.

The service is the result of a partnership between Red Bus Ltd (a City Council company) and four of Christchurch leading attractions: the Antarctic Centre, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Christchurch Tramway Ltd and Christchurch Gondola Ltd.

The bus will operate in a loop between the attractions from 10am to 6pm every day of the week with the bus leaving opposite the tram stop in Cathedral Square every 40 minutes.

The bus was restored in the city and has been painted black to reflect the colour that has become "e;New Zealand owned."e;

It holds 72 people and has a sound and video system for a commentary on each trip. The Christchurch and Canterbury Marketing is a partner in the venture and sells tickets at the Visitor Centre in the Square and they are sold on board the bus.
