Ways to get funds

Community groups and recreation and sports organisations can get funding in various ways.

A computer database of information about the different sources of funding is provided through the Council’s libraries’ network.

Fundview — gives a list of all known funding sources.
Breakout — lists scholarships available.

Funding schemes available through the Fendalton Advocacy Team (ph: 941 6732) are:
Hillary Commission — community sport fund.
Christchurch City Council — community development scheme and Creative Communities Scheme.
City Council and Hillary Commission — loans scheme.

The schemes have particular purposes and applications need to fit within them.

The Fendalton-Waimairi Community Funding Committee holds one main funding round each year, generally in May. Applications close at the end of March and are advertised in local and metropolitan newspapers.

Information relating to the criteria for making an application and for help in filling in an application form can be obtained from the Community Development Adviser and-or the Community Recreation Adviser.

A funding seminar is held each year, usually in January or February, to assist community groups with funding schemes.
