Free training sessions at Linwood Library
Rona Fatuleai, right, training Melinda Robertson and son Timothy, aged 13, at Linwood Library.
on searching the library catalogue, navigating the Internet and setting up and using email are being offered at the Linwood Library.

The library is also giving the public an opportunity to learn about the range of premium databases that are available from the library home page (http://library.christchurch.org.nz).

The training caters for all levels of ability and sessions are offered on a one-on-one basis from Monday to Friday at times to suit.

People who have taken the training include students wanting to learn advanced search techniques to assist them with assignments; parents and grandparents who want to keep in touch with relations by email; and patients wanting to access reputable health web sites to understand more about their medical conditions.

And there have even been crossword enthusiasts who learnt how to search the Oxford English Dictionary database.
