All the fun of Adventure Playground

All the fun of Adventure Playground
Thousands turned out for Christchurch’s first Adventure Playground in the city’s centre on March 18.

The tramline from Cathedral Square to the Arts Centre was closed to traffic for the running of the first jiggernaut road-racing event in the world.

Twelve jiggernaut teams raced against time and crews of four used hand power to propel the racing carts along the tramlines.

Other adventurous activities were held beside the racing track, ranging from a high fly wire to abseiling down Rydges Hotel. A highlight of the day was the high-wire act by circus performers, Alex Schukin, on cycle, and Toni West on trapeze.

The event was organised by the Adventure Festival Trust with support from the City Council.
