WASTEWATER: Public to be Consulted

Don't Duck the IssueThe scheme will now go before the public for consultation. An action plan has been drawn up until 2015 that includes a $15.3 million ultra-violet disinfection plant and the Green Edge scheme at $14 million over the next seven years.

The $32.1 million necessary has been budgeted over seven years, while scientific studies and technology trials continue, valued at $2.8 million to investigate the best long-term solutions.

The $32.1 million is less than half the cost of an ocean pipe discharge.

At the end of this period the Council will decide on a long-term solution, and this could include an ocean pipeline if it is found to be necessary after all the studies and trials have been completed.

For more information contact the Council on 379 1660.
