Watch world-class golf in Chch

Top-flight golfers from around the world descend on Christchurch 23-26th February for the $US600,000 ING New Zealand PGA Championship at the Clearwater Golf Club.

Among the field of 156 players are 78 from the US Nationwide Tour and 78 from the PGA Tour of Australasia. Leading Kiwis expected to be in the field include David Smail, Brad Heaven, Eddie Lee, Mahal Pearce and Tony Christie.

The City Council-supported event is part of the US Nationwide Tour. In 2004, Clearwater’s course and its signature 18th hole was ranked the sixth toughest on the tour.

Entry to the event is via the complimentary City Council Family Pass which you will find enclosed with your January/February rate instalments. This pass, valued at $55, allows families to attend the entire championships free. We encourage families to be on course for the final round on Sunday, 26 February. On that day, spectators will be eligible to enter a draw for a $10,000 prize package including flights to Australia, accommodation and TaylorMade golf clubs.

The NZPGA Championship is proudly supporting the Steve Williams Foundation in support of junior golf in New Zealand. In an effort to encourage people to learn and play golf, the City Council is running a Give Golf a Go area at Clearwater. Along with partners Classic Hits and Canterbury Golf, this free family-focussed interactive area will be manned by local pro-golfers and is aimed at all beginners.

The 2006 ING NZ PGA Championship is proudly supported by ING Financial Services, Christchurch City Council, Jacobs Creek, Clearwater Resort, Outrigger and 100% Pure NZ.
