Hunter Tce landscape plans out early next year
Landscape plans for Hunter Terrace, the pipe yard on Hunter Terrace and the Heathcote River corridor from Colombo Street to Hansen Park will be made available to the public early next year.
The plans for Hunter Tce and the Heathcote River corridor incorporate the results of consultation earlier this year with the community about developing a vision for part of the Heathcote River.
The community will be asked to consider a variety of options for the pipe yard when the landscape plans are produced.
However, production of a comprehensive vision document for the Heathcote River corridor from Colombo St to Hansen Park has been put on hold as the Council works on re-prioritising its capital works programme. This process will be completed next year.
While funding is available for the river corridor tree replacement and landscaping, the Hunter Tce and pipe yard proposals will need to be considered alongside other city projects for funding through the Long-Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) process.
Other Council work currently under way for the benefit of the Heathcote River environment includes upgrading the Donkey Track adjacent to Thorrington School, production of a Cashmere Stream enhancement plan, studies of fish, invertebrates and birds along the river and new Council regulations and processes that will make a positive contribution towards water quality in the river. |
