Childrens day set for October

The annual Children’s Day is held each year at The Groynes. The event, co-ordinated by the City Council and funded by the Shirley/Papanui Community Board, is free and aims to encourage families to spend time together without worrying about cost.

Last year around 5000 people attended the fun event which featured activities, kite flying, rock painting, face painting, a bouncy castle and train and boat rides.

This year’s event is being held on Sunday 31 October. Community groups are actively involved in fundraising and promoting healthy lifestyles on the day. If you would like to be involved contact Ollie Clifton, Community Recreation Advisor, on 941 5409 for further details.
