Activities galore

Holiday programmes
A tremendous line-up of fun, games, trips and activities has been planned for the upcoming holidays for 5-10 year olds.

Phillipstown Pulsators, Linwood Movers, Bromley Boredom Busters and Richmond Holiday Programme are all programmes supported by the Christchurch City Council and the Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board to enable children to have a fun-filled, affordable holiday experience, learn new skills and make friends.

For the older ones, 11-14 years, there is sure to be an activity that appeals on the Phillipstown and Linwood Youth Adventure programmes.

For more information on holiday programmes in your area please contact Christchurch City Council on 941 8383.

Surf's Up
A great opportunity exists for 11-18 year olds from Hagley/Ferrymead to have surf lessons with surf professional Aaron Lock of 0800 80 surf.

The course costs $10 and will run from 12.30-3.30pm on Wednesday 21 and Friday 23 April.

The programme includes: reading the ocean, paddling and catching waves, standing, turning, green face riding and basic manoeuvres for more advanced riders.

Soft style surfboards and full length wetsuits are provided as well as transport to and from Sumner beach.

Bookings are essential at Diverse Cafe, 5 Buckley's Road - opposite Eastgate. Phone 381 8619.

Leisure for Life!
Come along and enjoy a social outing with afternoon tea and lots of chatter! The Phillipstown Leisure Club for Older Adults is a fun programme featuring entertainment, games, guest speakers, mystery tours, outings and some art and crafts. The programme runs each week at the Phillipstown Community Centre on Tuesdays from 1.15 ¨C 3pm and is a great way to meet new people and do interesting activities.

For more information please phone Community Recreation Advisor Diana Saxton on 941 6628.

Linwood Mothers
Following on from the success of a surf workshop for Linwood youth it was discovered that it might be a great idea to get mothers together for some fun recreational activities. The plan is to get a group going that could be based from the newly refurbished Bromley Community Centre once a week for a couple of hours in the morning after the kids have gone to school.

If this sounds like you, give Diana Saxton, Community Recreation Advisor a call on 941 6628.
