Community centres cater for wide range of groups

Looking for somewhere to hold a craft group gathering, host a prizegiving or simply have a meeting? The Fendalton/Waimairi area has two superb community centres with spaces to cater for a range of groups.

The recently refurbished Fendalton Community Centre offers a variety of meeting/activity rooms for community use. These include an auditorium (seats 80 people), a seminar room (seats 34), a small meeting room (seats 14), an activities room for arts and crafts, and a recreational hall suitable for a variety of programmes ranging from exercise to staged performances.

Activities held at the centre include exercise classes, community group meetings, training sessions, church services, music practices and educational activities.

While the centre is well booked there are still plenty of times available for new groups to use it.

Set in an attractive wooded reserve, Avice Hill Craft Centre is another superb community facility.

The centre features a craft studio suitable for any type of art or craft, an activities room to cater for about 20 people, and a meeting room suitable for small gatherings of up to 10 people.

The Fendalton Advocacy Team at the Fendalton Service Centre, corner Jeffreys and Clyde roads, welcomes inquiries from anyone wanting to book either of the centres for new programmes or oneoff events. They can be contacted on 941 6731 between 8am and 4.30pm during the working week. Rental charges are made available at the time of booking
