Sport and recreation fund for residents

The Burwood/Pegasus Community Board is offering financial assistance to sport and physical activity organisations within the ward area.

The application dates for this year still have to be set but invitations to attend the information seminars will be sent out in the next month or so. All groups are eligible to apply for projects specifically targeted at people living in Burwood/Pegasus. This includes requests for sport and recreation gear purchases and maintenance, out-of-school and holiday programme costs, coaching and volunteer training costs.

The fund is not intended to help purchase equipment that is not recreation and sports based, used in schools and education programmes, toy libraries or early childhood centres and kindergartens. Funding assistance is limited to one application per group and must be for a planned cost or project, not retrospectively.

Invitations will be sent to all sport and recreation groups based in the two wards that staff are aware of. If you think your group might qualify but have never received an invitation please contact the Recreation Adviser, Marion Morton, at the Shirley Service Centre for more information.
