Parklands’ groups hold fun day

A family fun day was held recently by local groups, which use the Parklands Community Centre at 75 Queenspark Drive.

Ten groups planned and co-ordinated a family day, which included fun activities for children and displays from all the contributing clubs and associations based at the centre. Local residents took the opportunity to have a look around and find out about the groups’ activities. The weather stayed reasonably fine for the event, which was fortunate as activities were held outside as well as inside the centre. The contributing groups put in lots of effort to make the day a success.

Staff from Christchurch Libraries had an information stand showing plans for the proposed Parklands Library. The plans have been discussed with teachers and students at the local school, playgroup, playcentre and kindergarten. These groups have given staff some excellent ideas about furniture, books, and an audiovisual collection, the library layout and use of the outdoors space, as well as requests for café food and drink.

Feedback has also been received through the Christchurch Libraries website. The fun day presented another opportunity to consult residents and hear ideas about their expectations for the facility.
