New Brighton Cenotaph

The area around the New Brighton Cenotaph is looking particularly smart following landscaping treatment done last year, which included new wide steps with handrails, new paving and walls and a flag pole installed by local business people.

The final enhancement involves installing new stonework on the cenotaph structure, which started in late March, after an overseas source was located for the stones required. It is hoped the work will be completed by ANZAC Day, but until the stonemasons begin to lift the stones out to expose the inner structure of the cenotaph, the extent of the damage and repairs needed will not be clear.
