Local links in names for Anzac Drive ponds

Two ponds along Anzac Drive are to be called Lake Kate Sheppard and Erickson Waterway.

The large pond at the southern end of Barkers waterway will be called Lake Kate Sheppard as the Kate Sheppard Lifecare Centre that is next to the pond will contribute towards the development costs of the nearby reserve.

Road development proposals for the reserve incorporate links with the centre.

Descendants of the Erickson family asked for recognition of its past involvement and ownership of land in the area and so the complex of waterways and a small pond along the western side of the Woolston-Burwood Expressway will be called Erickson Waterway.
