Injuries project
The City Council will be involved in an injury prevention project in Christchurch.

Crown Public Health has funding from ACC to carry out a needs analysis and strategy for setting up an injury prevention project.

The project team will liaise with the Co-ordinating Committee for Traffic Safety.

Poles in the way
Discussions are being held by the Co-ordinating Committee for Traffic Safety on poles as traffic hazards.

The committee has expressed concern about the placement of poles at roadsides and is holding talks to see how the situation can be improved.

Burnout pad
A burnout pad will be built in the centre of the speedway track at Ruapuna in association with the Christchurch Speedway Association. It will have a six-metre buffer between the pad and the racing track.

New Reservoir
Part of the Huia Gilpin Reserve, at the upper end of Huntsbury Avenue on the Port Hills, will be used to build a water reservoir. The reservoir will serve an expansion for the Broadoaks housing sub-division and in the upper part of Huntsbury Hill.

New housing
A new 22-unit elderly people’s housing complex will open soon in Hornby. Some of the units at 433 Main South Road will be for sale.
