Carrot happy in no-spray zone

Carrot the Clown keeps his kerb spray-free "Carrot the Clown" ensures that his South Brighton street frontage will not be sprayed with herbicide by the Council’s street maintenance contractors.

Carrot (also known as Chris Carrow) is one of around 200 householders on the Council’s "No spray" list.

Their properties have a sticker, usually on the letterbox, and a sign on the kerb to ensure the contractor passes them by when spraying pavements and gutters for weed control.

Carrot, and the other "No spray" residents, take responsibility for maintaining their own street frontages.

Most of the people on the list are concerned about their personal well-being or their gardens.

Anyone wanting to go onto the "No spray" list should call the City Streets Unit on 941 8666.
