'Magical Ball' to help sick children

The Mayor’s Magical Charity Ball will be held on Saturday 9 October at the Hotel Grand Chancellor to raise funds for the Rainbow Trust.

The trust has been launched to raise several million dollars by next year for children needing treatment in Christchurch Hospital. The money will help supply specialist medical equipment and services — beyond what the Government is expected to provide — for sick children.

The trust is also hopeful of providing, in conjunction with a major sponsor, a house for the families of the children who come from out of town to be treated at the hospital.

Mayor Garry Moore is encouraging those who wish to support this charity to buy a ticket to this special event.

Tickets are available from the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation’s office at the main entrance of Christchurch Hospital.
