How Does Your Garden Grow?

Residents who have attractive gardens and street frontages may be rewarded early next year through the Council and Christchurch Beautifying Association's street and garden awards scheme.

Judging will be done in February for awards for the most attractive streets and cul-de-sacs in each of the six community board areas, and for the most attractive gardens viewed from the street. Between now and then every street in the City, except private roads and right of ways, will be scoured for likely winners.

The aim of the scheme is to foster community pride and encourage residents to maintain attractive gardens, street frontages and footpath berms, and in other efforts to enhance streets, neighbourhoods and Christchurch's garden image.

The Council provides financial assistance for the viewed-from-the street awards and community boards hold presentations for the community pride awards. All other work is done by the CBA.
