Drink driving theme for script awards Six secondary schools have made it through to the finals of the 2004 Crashbash Script Awards, a City Council supported road safety project which aims to encourage teenagers to think about issues to do with drink-driving before driving on a full licence. Now in its 11th year, Crashbash is funded by the Land Transport Safety Authority, with support from the Accident Compensation Corporation and Students Against Driving Drunk. This year’s theme for a stage script is “alcoholimpaired driving, the morning after drinking.” The finalists include Rangiora High School; Pari O Whiti Correspondence School; Christ’s College; Villa Maria College, which has two entries; and Marian College. The winning script will be professionally developed and toured back to Christchurch high schools in 2005. The finals are being held at 7pm on Friday 18 June in the Great Hall at The Arts Centre. For bookings, contact the Court Theatre Box Office. Tickets are $2, door sales $3 from 6.30pm. Seats are limited.
