Skaters, not yet please

Skaters are being asked to be patient and keep out of the construction site at Washington Reserve because they run the risk of ruining the surface of the street skating area before the concrete has hardened properly. One skater reckons the skating community has been waiting for four years for the facility to be built and a little more patience will mean it is finished to a high quality. Those trying out the area before it is ready are liable to have the rest of the city's skating community after them if they damage the area. The construction site also has hazards, with reinforcing rods and other materials around which could cause injury. The area should be completed by the end of September and staff are now planning an opening event.
