The site — at www.ccc.govt.nz/Environment/Weeds/ — has pictures to help identify weeds that are specific to Christchurch and information about how to distinguish weeds from similar looking plants.

It also has information about the current status of each species, such as if it is covered by a pest-management strategy, some general guidance on control methods and a list of locally useful references.

The site explains that not all plants it identifies are regarded as a weed in all situations.

The Christchurch Weed Guide does not include every single weed, although there is a link for people who wish to suggest additions, or detailed control methods, such as recommendations for particular herbicides.
