Talks on free bus passes Discussions are to be held between the City Council and employers to encourage participation in a proposed free-bus-ticket scheme for staff. For its part, the City Council is investigating the scheme as part of its sustainable initiatives for the city. The scheme is designed to reduce the number of cars on the road. Similar initiatives are being taken in Britain, the United States and Europe by public and private sector employers to encourage employees to travel to work by public transport. A survey of City Council staff showed that 64 per cent travelled to work by car. |
