Spring clean — and help others Organisers of a Furniture- A- Thon in Christchurch on 23 September are calling for donations of furniture, food and money, which will be distributed to people who need them. Mick O’Callaghan says the Furniture- A- Thon offers residents the opportunity to support the work Community Based Furniture and City New Life Distribution already do with people who, through no fault of their own, have become “statistics” with a need for help. Businesses who sponsor the event will be given free promotion in the media the month prior, and the week following, the Furniture-AThon. “It will be a fun day while making the public aware of the ‘forgotten’ people of Christchurch,” says Mick. Donations can be dropped off on the day, between 7am and 4pm, at Shirley St Albans Club, Woolston Club Inc, Hoon Hay Club and Russley Hotel.
