Battling the bulge . . . of household waste

As part of the "e;There’s no time to waste"e; campaign, here are some tips for every householder on ways to reduce waste:
  • Use kerbside recycling - Buy products with less packaging - refills, concentrates and economy sizes
  • Reuse plastic shopping bags or take your own bags to the supermarket
  • Take reusable items to a second- hand shop or local transfer station. Have a garage sale or take them to the local school or church fair - Take clothing to second- hand shops or clothing bins
  • Compost your food and garden waste at home, or take garden waste to the transfer station to be composted
  • Recycle used car oil, car batteries, scrap metal and whiteware at the transfer station.
